AMBA has many fantastic volunteers contributing their time and skills to assist multiple birth families at local, state and national levels. AMBA celebrates the contribution its volunteers make.
About the AMBA Appreciation Awards
The AMBA Appreciation Awards program has been established to:
- Acknowledge AMBA members’ valued contributions
- Introduce dedicated, creative and innovative individuals and clubs to their peers on a national level
- Promote team work
- Recognise activities that increase the profile of AMBA within local and national communities
- Promote national affiliation.
How to Nominate
- Identify an individual, club member or club who meets the criteria for one of the awards
- Nominator must be a financial member of AMBA
- Complete the nomination form

AMBA Appreciation Award Categories
Local Award – for service in the local area or state
Awarded to an individual or club who has gone ‘beyond the call of duty’ at a local or state level. This club or individual will have provided exceptional service for the betterment of multiple birth families within their local area or their state through the production of a product or service.
Criteria:
- Individual must be a financial member of AMBA
- Club must be a financial affiliated association of AMBA
- Exceptional means: outside the defined role or expectation of the existing Committee positions
- When assessing a product or service, this product or service should be able to be duplicated in other clubs and states
National Award – for service to the broad Australian multiple birth community
Awarded to an individual or club that has provided exceptional service for the betterment of multiple birth families through the production of a product or service or amenity that is of benefit to the multiple birth community of Australia.
Criteria:
- Individual must be a financial member of AMBA
- Club must be a financial affiliated association of AMBA
- Exceptional means: outside the defined role or expectation of the existing Committee positions
- When assessing a product or service, this product or service should be for the benefit of multiple birth families throughout Australia
International Award – for service to multiple birth families internationally
Awarded to an individual who has supported multiple birth families through research and/or promotion in an international context. The research or promotion needs to be of benefit to the multiple birth community in Australia and overseas.
Criteria:
- Individual does not need to be an Australian resident or citizen.
- Individual does not need to be a member of AMBA or be a parent or guardian of multiples.
- Individual must have international recognition in their field of expertise.
Media Award
Awarded to a media outlet or journalist who has raised the profile of AMBA (the organisation) or issues pertaining to multiple birth families. The publicity must be state-based or nation-wide, not just in the local area.
Criteria:
- Individual does not need to be an Australian resident or citizen.
- Individual does not need to be a member of AMBA or be a parent or guardian of multiples.
- The nominee must demonstrate evidence of how the media or journalist positively raised the profile of AMBA or multiples in general. (eg. increased website hits, phone enquiries, article creating cross-media interest)
Pat Stewart Memorial Award
Awarded to an individual (or individuals) who has (or have) undertaken a project that improves the welfare of multiple birth children and their families throughout Australia.
Criteria:
- Individual does not need to be a member of AMBA or be a parent or guardian of multiples
- The project must be based on a needs assessment for multiple birth families. It can include investigation, research, lobbying. It could be a long term project
- The nomination must show how the project has addressed needs of multiple birth families and the benefits gained
