Grief, in its many forms, is one of the most painful experiences that anyone can suffer, and every year it is experienced by thousands of Australian families. Our thoughts and sympathies are with you and your family if your child or children have died.

Professionals should be able to recognise and respond appropriately to bereaved families' varied emotional needs when a child dies or when children are bereaved of someone important in their life; we encourage you to contact your local health professional for additional support.

AMBA's Online Forum is  a place where a bereaved family may take great comfort and talk freely with others who have suffered the loss of one or more of their multiples. It is a place for parents to come together and read and/or share their stories about their tragic loss and their journey with grief.  Once you have joined the forum email to get access to the Bereavement Sanctuary.

AMBA has two downloadable leaflets that have been written by bereaved parents.

  • Helping the Grieving Mother leaflet has been prepared by a bereaved multiple birth parent to offer suggestions to answer the question of "What can I do to help a member/friend who has experienced one or more of her babies dying?"
  • The  Grieving Couples leaflet has been prepared for parents who have experienced bereavement. It was written by a bereaved parent and is is intended for couples who have lost one or more of their babies or children.

AMBA aims to provide our bereaved families with the best support possible. However, if there is something specific you are looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us at
