Award categories and criteria

Research suggests that our community wants to see the AMBA Appreciation Awards recognise people changing lives and impacting families for the better, as well as those who enable our organisation to strengthen its capacity to deliver on its mission. Consideration should be given to the appropriateness of nominations, given these are annual and prestigious awards that recognise contribution at the highest levels of our organisation. Good work and positive contributions are observed often within our organisation, and part of maintaining a positive and cohesive board or committee is to ensure that feedback is provided regularly to recognise those contributions. There are many scenarios where proper recognition to individuals should come from a member-club to its own volunteers.

In choosing the recipients of the AMBA Appreciation Awards (AAA), regard is given to the nominee's achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and potential ongoing contribution to the multiple birth community.

The selection and eligibility criteria are mostly unique for each award, however, there are some common conditions for all award categories:

  • An individual or member-club need only be nominated once to be considered
  • The number of nominations received per nominee bears no weight in their selection
  • A person cannot receive a second award in the same award category for the same program/service/achievement, but can be considered for recognition for a different program/service/achievement in following years
  • Unsuccessful nominees may be re-nominated in subsequent years
  • Self nominations will not be accepted
  • The judging panel reserves the right to redirect entries to a more appropriate category
  • The judging panel has the right to reject an entry, which in their opinion, does not comply with the criteria of the award category
  • The judges’ decision will be final

Note that there will not necessarily be an award recipient in each category every year.

  • The impact of the nominee’s achievement does not exceed beyond local member-club level [for an individual] OR the impact of the club’s achievement does not exceed beyond the state they serve
